HIKE FOR CAMP HAS BEEN POSTPONED, PENDING A LATER DATE, DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
Summer camp is an adventure. It is a place for children to make connections, discover their talents, and contribute to something bigger than themselves.
“I had the opportunity to mentor a camper, and I gained a lot of perspective on his life. He told me about his parents’ absence, and how his aunt and uncle were fostering him and his siblings. After discussing why he was acting out, we set goals to help him make friends, be more engaged in fun activities, and feel confident in asking camp leaders for guidance. The rest of the week, there was a radical change in his behavior and mood. He was genuinely having fun and making friends! When it came time to leave, he had tears in his eyes and asked if he could stay longer. That same camper returned for winter camp, and he thanked me for helping him. His transformation validated why I love my job.” -Rafael Sanchez
A week of camp can change a child’s life in positive and meaningful ways. All children can benefit from summer camp, but not all children can afford to go to summer camp. That’s where you come in!
